RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil: Jamaica's Under-20 Reggae Boyz continued their good run at the 2007 Pan American Games when they beat arch rivals Mexico on penalties to move into the finals of the football competition on Tuesday.
After playing to a 0-0 tie in the time allotted, the young Boyz came away 5-4 winners on penalties when Norman Bailey stepped up to knock home the deciding spot kick after the two sides kicked to a sudden death kick-off.
Both teams, Mexico in particular, had several chances to score in regular time, but failed to take advantage of those opportunities.
At one point in the shoot-out Jamaica seemed down and out, with the Mexicans only a save away from moving on.
However, goalkeeper Duwayne Kerr stepped up confidently to knock the ball into the left corner of the goal and tied the score 3-3. Source:www.caribbeannetnews.com
