You must have heard the song "Locked up" featuring Styles P. His new single "Ghetto" is now out. I love Akon's voice, he brings something new to the hiphop world. I think somehow his senegaleese roots are influencing his music. I just bought his CD "Trouble" and love it. So check it out!

SRC/Universal artist Akon returns to the top of the radio charts with his second hit single "Lonely," from his critically acclaimed gold certified debut CD Trouble. "Lonely" was the #1 Most Added song at Rhythm Crossover, the # 4 Most Added song at Pop radio, lighting up the phones as one of the most requested records of the year.
Spin calls the Senegalese born/Jersey bred R&B singer "butter-smooth " and Vibe magazine describes his debut album as "impressive" and Akon lives up to the hype, captivating radio listeners with his infectious R&B melodies. The heartfelt ballad, "Lonely" has already garnered a radio listening audience of more than 18 million in its first week of release. The sizzling song sits in the company of new music from artists such as Rob Thomas and 50 Cents.
The versatile writer/producer/singer is expected to chart on the Top 40 (pop) within a week and has dented the Top 20 of Rhythm Crossover with "Lonely" coming in at #17, proving his razor-fine blend of soulful pop/R&B/hip hop has penetrated mainstream radio. The "Lonely" video was recently submitted to MTV and VH1 and was added to BET this week.
Akon's previous single, the smash hit "Locked Up," stayed at the top of the Rhythm Crossover chart for 30 weeks, snagging a total radio listening audience of more than 85 million. The song has recently caught fire in the UK, debuting at the #5 slot on the UK singles chart, and hovering in the Top 15 across Europe, according to the Billboard Eurocharts.
Due to Akon's wide fan base throughout the US and Europe his album TROUBLE is rapidly approaching platinum status. TROUBLE creatively reflects the ups and downs of the singer's life experiences. "I've got a habit of writing about everything I go through," Akon explains, "and this album gives a glimpse of where I am now."
