Greensleeves releases mix tape
Monday, September 17, 2007
Mix tapes have been a part of the musical landscape for many years now. Not only have they assisted in promoting an artiste's career, but they also create a buzz before any major release from an artiste.
Bobby Konders from the New York-based Massive B label has noticed the viability of mix tapes on the streets of New York. He has teamed up with Greensleeves Records out of London for the release of the Official Mix Tape 2. This edition features some hardcore juggling with hits from the early to mid-1990s.
If you haven't gotten your fill from the Good Times or Heineken Yesterday events, then this compilation might just do the trick to keep you entertained old school dancehall style.
With 41 tracks, the mix kicks off with an interesting intro. Bounty Killer's Suspense, Bad Bwoy Nuh Cub Scout, Nuh Have No Heart, Cellular Phone, Not Another Word, More Gal, and his first number one hit, Intimate, with Anthony Red Rose, keep the sparks flying on this engaging set.
Beenie Man's Stop Living In The Past, Dengue Fever, World Dance, Turn Around, Diss The Programme, Big Up And Trust, Tear Off Mi Garment, and Chronic are also featured.
There are also tracks from Grindsman, General Degree, Spragga Benz, Silver Cat, Mad Cobra, Mega Banton, Ricky General, Simpleton, Fabby Dolly, Cocoa Tea, Buju Banton, Saba Tooth, Terror Fabulous, Merciless, Jigsy King, Major Mackerel and just about any major dancehall artiste from that period.
Bugle making waves with What We Gonna Do
Bugle has finally gotten the attention that he craved. His latest single, What We Gonna Do, produced by production powerhouse Daseca, has been enjoying attention both at radio and in the dancehall.
The track has been released on the Daseca label.
Also new on record shelves last week are singles from the Irie Pen, P2K, Three Biz, and Star Kutt labels.
The Irie Pen label has Hopeton Lindo's single Turf from the Turf rhythm, while the P2K label's Culture rhythm features A Nuh My Gal by Devonte.
Show Them The Dance and Gangsta Roll by Garrison Hawk are new from the Three Biz label, while Pon Di Edge and Freezer by Busy Signal, and Fallen Soldiers by Demarco are featured on the Star Kutt label.
Big Yard visits Shanty Town
There hasn't been a dull moment for the Big Yard label in recent memory. Its latest project is the ska-infused Shanty Town rhythm.
Shaggy's Move Hype is among the early stand-out tracks. The vibe was apparently enticing, so Shaggy had to throw in another track, Bonafide Girl, which features frequent collaborator Rik Rok and Brian Gold.
Panty Town by Screechy Dan, I Don't Think So by Red Fox, Searching by Collie Buddz featuring Roache, Panty Inna Town by Jerry Johnson, Fling It Pon Me by Da'Ville, Dreams Come True by Tony Gold, Arm Of The Wicked by Rayvon and One Night Stand by Goldenchyl complete the line-up for the Shanty Town rhythm.
All Access is handling distribution.
