Three members of the Marley clan will headline the historic 50th anniversary of Studio One on Saturday, November 27, at the Old Coal Wharf in Port Royal.
According to information from Studio One, Tuff Gong is major sponsor along with VP Records, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Irie FM, Puma, Cable & Wireless, Star Time Production from Bermuda and Dubb Stores from Japan.
Grammy awardee Damion "Junior Gong" Marley along with siblings Stephen and Julian will travel to Jamaica from various locations overseas for this special event.
"The Marleys will take the excitement up one more notch, and will add to the already fantastic line up of artistes, some of whom are returning home from overseas to participate in the nostalgia," director of business affairs at Studio One Lou Gooden said.
The Marleys will share the stage with a number of foundation Studio One entertainers. Among these acts is Marcia Griffiths, who is celebrating her 40th anniversary in the music business, having started her recording career at the legendary studio 10 years after Studio One started operations. Then there will be Mr Rock Steady Ken Boothe, Winston Francis, Derrick Harriott, the Mighty Diamonds and Culture among many others.
Studio One is the renowned recording facility started by Jamaica's quintessential producer the late Clement "Sir Coxsone" Dodd. In recognition for his outstanding contribution to the music industry, Brentford Road on which his studio is located was renamed Studio One Boulevard. Dodd died four days later.
