Lexxus re-hires former manager, opts for name change
Deejay Mr Lex aka Lexxus who has been relatively quiet in recent times has re-hired his former manager Earlton Clarke of E-Mar Entertainment. Clarke who severed ties with Lexxus almost three years ago had been managing the toaster from the early days of his career. He was instrumental in the deejay's deal that was brokered with VP Records which resulted in his 2000 debut album Mr Lex.
"I am back with Lexxus now. I was the person who had worked with him from day one, and built him into what he was', Clarke told this column recently.
Known for a string of hits including Get Wid It, Full Hundred, Why (Video Light), Monkeys Come Out and Ring Me Cellie, Lexxus whose real name is Christopher Palmer changed his name to Mr Lexx. He has now undergone another name change according to Clarke. "He is now known as The Prince," Clarke said.
Clarke told Splash that his reasons for rejoining with Lexxus were many and that he likes a challenge: "When you check the business right now, it is lacking entertainment. You need artistes who can entertain people and put back the fun into the business. I am also working with Ward 21 and they and Lexxus had a winning chemistry from back in the day. Lexxus and I never had any form of grievance or differences when we parted company. I did it already and I can do it again. I always love a challenge. I build artistes from scratch."
