THE 49TH ANNUAL GRAMMY® AWARD NOMINATIONS FEEL ZIGGY MARLEY’S ‘LOVE’ Love Is My Religion Nominated For Best Reggae Album Los Angeles, CA (December 7, 2006) – Three-time Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Ziggy Marley, garnered a Grammy nomination today for his second solo studio album Love Is My Religion (Tuff Gong Worldwide). The album picked up 1 nod in the Best Reggae Album (Vocal or Instrumental) category and will compete against albums by Buju Banton, Matisyahu, Sly & Robbie and UB40. The winner will be announced at the 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards held on "GRAMMY Sunday," Feb. 11, at Staples Center in Los Angeles. “I appreciate the recognition by the Recording Academy. I am very proud of Love is My Religion and believe the whole album offers a message that people need to hear,” said Ziggy. Love Is My Religion expands upon the personal, social and political themes explored Ziggy’s debut CD, Dragonfly, peppering a reggae core with African percussion and other flavors. Ziggy serves as the album’s songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. The album was released on July 4th, 2006 and is currently being sold exclusively through Target. Ziggy’s previous win in the Best Reggae Album category was in 1997 for Fallen Is Babylon by Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers. Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers also picked up the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Recording in 1998 for Conscious Party and in 1989 for One Bright Day. Ziggy Marley’s early immersion in music came at age ten when he sat in on recording sessions with his father. He later joined his siblings to front The Melody Makers, whose eight best-selling albums generated such chart-topping hits as “Tomorrow People” and “Tumbling Down” Ziggy’s solo debut, Dragonfly, was released in 2003 and featured such artists as Flea and John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Mike Einziger and DJ Kilmore (Incubus).
