'WOW WOW', RIDDLE me this riddle me that, who is the most unassuming, relaxed deejay?

If you guessed Baby Cham, then you are correct.

Bottling a dynamic personality along with the ever radiant disarming grin Cham, instinctively puts one at ease.

Sherlock Crescent is dark, the humidity clings like a playful puppy, but somewhere through this, Baby Cham rises majestically, towering over his friends, yes friends not hangers on.

This famous son of Sherlock Crescent is taking a well- earned break from his 46-concert tour which takes him to the length and breadth of the United States.

Now?

Introductions made via knocked fists, Cham leaned his long, skinny frame closer to Zacheus' level to hear what was being said to him. Asked if he wouldn't mind some questions, he incredulously asked "Now"?, his eyes and expression taking in the fact that the noise level was ear-splitting.

Without much ado, like the bubbly champagne from which he derives his name Cham poured out his plans for his upcoming album, his thoughts on Hype Fridays, the community's popular event, meanwhile bouncing to the big 'chunes' that were flashed on and off Starz International's turntable.

The deejay has an upcoming 16-track album entitled Thinking With the Wrong Head slated to 'mash up' the place. But first being an area youth THE STAR asked him about the dance.


Working for the family

"We have to endorse it. De youth find something fi do instead of getting in trouble. A good thing man."

That aside the deejay spoke about being on tour. "It's hard work, one has to eat well, get sleep and exercise to handle the stress of a tour. But one is working for the family," he said.

Vitamin S is the biggest song of his career and it has made the Billboard charts. Taking a break from touring of the United states and England, Dameon Beckett is a man on a mission. Not an Impossible Mission, but one that has borne fruit and is reaping rewards now.

"VP is marketing Baby Cham to people who have never been exposed to Baby Cham. We have been some places where the majority of people are West Indians, some far out of the way places but you know, we mash it still," his enthusiasm matching the Hype vibes that was now building to a crescendo.

With a bottle of Guinness in hand, 'bling' chain illuminating the night, air saluting some bad bwoy 'chune', Cham went back to his friends, laughing and having fun. He was back at home, back where he began, back among friends back ,among family and back as the star he is.
